East London based media agency HiTen Media approached the team to enhance their homepage design and bring it in line with a new brand identity they had ready. The aim of the re-design was to capture more customer leads, and drive users to a new PDF workbook landing page which would be soon to come.
With the design focused on these aims, we worked on the flow of the page and updating/freshening up content. A key part of this was to re-design the responsive mobile design, which previously had no optimised content. We were then able to work within their current Wordpress CMS to develop the new front-end design, and apply new interaction techniques requested from the design stage.
From obtaining the brief for the homepage it was clear that the client wished to stay close to their current content, and wanted to achieve a clearer typographic and visual hierarchy. With the main hero video staying at the top of the page, we worked with the rest of the page to apply a consistent look and feel. The previous homepage was dark and the sections merged with each other visually. By using more of their primary palette we brightened up the site and brought in fresh illustrations to enhance process information.
Building on the original copy for the process section, we wanted to inject some personality into the steps and add a clear hiearchy to the section. With the section now on white, we brought in illustrations which worked with the copy using primary colours. We also designed a hover state which changed each step in the process into an orange tile and inverted the copy to white. This was a challenge for development and worked as a strong addition in the final version.
The mobile design had previously not been considered as text alignments were outside of padding margins and the usability was poor. We re-envisioned the mobile experience and considered each element in both the design and development of the page. As the Wordpress theme in place couldn’t work with carousel functionaity, this therefore lengthened the overall page height. Overall we were able to bring this in line with the quality desktop experience.
